Breadth-first traversal of a graph is horizontal-first traversal, similar to layer-by-layer traversal of a binary tree. Breadth-first traversal searches and traverses along the width of the tree starting from the root node, that is, traversing in a hierarchical manner; each layer is visited sequentially from top to bottom, and in each layer, from left to right (or right to left) To access nodes, after accessing one level, enter the next level until no nodes can be accessed.

What is breadth-first traversal of a graph similar to a binary tree?

1. Introduction

Similar to tree traversal, graph traversal also starts from a certain point in the graph, and then traverses it according to a certain method. All vertices in the graph are visited only once.

But graph traversal is more complicated than trees. Because any vertex in the graph may be adjacent to other vertices, the visited vertices must be recorded during graph traversal to avoid repeated visits.

According to different search paths, we can divide the methods of graph traversal into two types: breadth-first search and depth-first search.

2. Basic concepts of graphs

2.1. Undirected graphs and undirected graphs

The vertex pair (u, v) is unordered, that is, (u, v ) and (v, u) are the same side. Usually expressed by a pair of parentheses.

Figure 2-1-1 Example of an undirected graph

The vertex pair is In order, it refers to a directed edge from vertex u to vertex v. where u is the starting point of the directed edge and v is the end point of the directed edge. Usually expressed by a pair of angle brackets.

Figure 2-1-2 Example of a directed graph

##2.2 .Quanhe.net
Each edge of the graph may have a value with a certain meaning, which is called the weight of the edge. This kind of weighted graph is called a network.

2.3. Connected graphs and non-connected graphs
Connected graph: In the undirected graph G, if there is a path from vertex v to vertex v', then v and v' are said to be connected. If any two vertices v, v'∈V in the graph, and v and v' are connected, then G is said to be a connected graph. The above two graphs are both connected graphs.

Disconnected graph: If there is a disconnection between v and v' in the undirected graph G, then G is said to be a disconnected graph.

Figure 2-3 Example of a non-connected graph

3. Breadth-first search

3.1. Basic idea of the algorithm
Breadth-first search is similar to the hierarchical traversal process of a tree. It needs to be implemented with the help of a queue. As shown in Figure 2-1-1, if we want to traverse every vertex from v0 to v6, we can set v0 as the first layer, v1, v2, and v3 as the second layer, v4 and v5 as the third layer, and v6 For the fourth layer, each vertex of each layer is traversed one by one.

The specific process is as follows:

1. Preparation: Create a visited array to record the visited vertices; create a queue to store the vertices of each layer; initialization Figure G.

2. Start visiting from v0 in the figure, set the value of the visited[v0] array to true, and add v0 to the queue.

3. As long as the queue is not empty, repeat the following operations:

(1) Point u at the head of the team to exit the queue.

(2) Check all adjacent vertices w of u in turn. If the value of visited[w] is false, visit w, set visited[w] to true, and add w to the queue.

3.2. Implementation process of the algorithm

White means it has not been visited, gray means it is about to be visited, and black means it has been visited.

visited array: 0 means not visited, 1 means visited.

Queue: elements come out from the head of the queue and elements enter from the tail.

1. Initially, all vertices have not been visited, the visited array is initialized to 0, and there are no elements in the queue.

#2. Vertex v0 is about to be visited.

Figure 3-2-2

3. Visit vertex v0 and place visited[0 The value of ] is 1, and v0 is added to the queue at the same time.

4. Dequeue v0 and visit v0’s adjacent point v2. Determine visited[2], because the value of visited[2] is 0, visit v2.

4. Depth-first search

4.1 Basic idea of the algorithm

Depth-first search is similar to pre-order traversal of a tree, specifically The process is as follows:

Preparation: Create a visited array to record all visited vertices.

1. Starting from v0 in the picture, visit v0.

2. Find the first unvisited adjacent point of v0 and visit the vertex. Use this vertex as a new vertex and repeat this step until the vertex just visited has no unvisited adjacent vertices.

3. Return to the previously visited vertex that still has unvisited adjacent points, and continue to visit the next unvisited leading point of the vertex.

4. Repeat steps 2 and 3 until all vertices are visited and the search ends.

4.2 Implementation process of the algorithm

1. Initially, all vertices have not been visited, and the visited array is empty.
