Parse officially releases open source PHP SDK, parsesdk

Pare has released the Parse PHP SDK, aiming to enable Parse to be integrated "into a new class of applications and different usage scenarios." Additionally, the company claims that this is their "first server-side language-oriented SDK, and the first truly open source SDK”

So far, Parse has provided several API libraries designed to make it easier for front-ends to integrate Parse, including support for Objective-C, Java, .NET and JavaScript. Additionally, Parse exposes interfaces locally via REST. These libraries cover the main usage scenarios of Parse, which saves developers from having to "re-develop their own backend for every service their application needs to access", such as managing servers and writing server-side code.

On the other hand, Parse also provides a Cloud Code environment based on their own JavaScript SDK for scenarios that require some logic on the server side. For example, one of the benefits of Parse Cloud Code is that updates are immediately available to all environments without having to wait for new applications to be released, so functionality can be modified dynamically. With the introduction of the Parse PHP SDK, you can now get the same benefits using PHP.

Parse PHP SDK is structured similarly to other Parse SDKs in that it is built around ParseObject, which contains key-value pairs of schema-free, JSON-compatible data. PFObject can be saved, retrieved, updated and deleted. Queries are modeled via PFQuery, which allows both basic and relational queries. Additionally, Parse supports role-based access control, which provides a logical way to group users who have the same access to Parse data.

Niraj Shah is a PHP developer in London, UK, who has created an easy-to-get started tutorial for the Parse PHP SDK. The tutorial aims to keep things simple, and Niraj says that the Parse PHP SDK's "documentation is not very well organized and you may have to jump between documents in order to figure out the complete solution."
