I spent $10 on 'Nintendo Switch 2 Welcome Tour' and got way more than I was expecting
It’s no mystery that the Nintendo Switch 2 didn’t come out with a ton of major first-party titles ready to go from day one. For most people who bought the Switch 2, Mario Kart World is going to be the main game holding things together until the next big Nintendo title, Donkey Kong Bananza, drops on July 17.
Still, there are plenty of games you can play other than Mario Kart, such as Cyberpunk 2077 and Fast Fusion. I feel like one of those other games might not get noticed much, which is a shame because it’s really good — and it only costs $10. The game is called Nintendo Switch 2 Welcome Tour, and after trying it out myself, I think it's an easy recommendation for any new Switch 2 owners looking for more stuff to play.
The idea behind Switch 2 Welcome Tour is pretty much what you’d expect: You take a tour through the Nintendo Switch 2 console in a way that feels like an interactive museum exhibit. And I mean that quite literally — in this game, you walk around inside a giant version of the console, exploring everything from the Joy-Con controllers to the screen to the built-in camera. You can even look into the internal components, like the chips inside each Joy-Con, the cooling vents, and so much more.
You actually go *inside* the Switch. Credit: Nintendo Welcome Tour is both fun and informative. In every area you explore, there are interactive exhibits designed to teach you how the Switch 2 works. These include minigames, tech demos, and quizzes that dive deep into features like HD Rumble, mouse support, and more. To move between areas, you have to visit and mark off each part of the Switch in your Nintendo stamp book, and by the end, you’ll know your new console like the back of your hand.

The minigames and tech demos are weirdly fun and totally unique. Credit: Nintendo It’s a great time, and I can imagine many people passing it up because it costs money and isn’t being advertised as heavily as Nintendo’s upcoming flagship games. Sure, I agree it should be free — Sony included Astro’s Playroom on every PS5, which was fantastic and had a similar purpose — but this is Nintendo we’re talking about, and putting a price on something like this is classic Nintendo behavior. Whether or not you're okay with that is up to you, but personally, I believe Nintendo Switch 2 Welcome Tour is worth buying even at $9.99. There’s honestly no better introduction to the newest system out there.
