The latest macOS Ventura 13.1 beta brings useful enhancements to the Find My app. With this update, you can now use the Find My app on your Mac to ping nearby accessories for the first time. This behavior was previously only available in the Find app on iPhone, iPad, and Apple Watch.

AirTag and a few different third-party accessories offer the ability to ping the accessory with sound. In previous versions of macOS, you could only play sounds on Apple products like iPhones and AirPods. This update extends the same functionality to AirTags and other Find My item trackers for the first time.

To find this new option, open the Find My app on your Mac. Then click on the Projects tab and click on the attachment you are looking for. From there, you'll see all the usual options for finding items, including the new "Play Sound" option. Clicking this button will play the sound on the accessory, just like on iPhone, iPad, and Apple Watch.

This is a small but useful change. The more locations that support the full functionality of the Find My app, the more options you have for finding your lost items.
