How to Cultivate Your Home Island Garden

Step One: Gathering Seeds and Crops

Exploring Aloft's skies reveals diverse foraging opportunities across various islands and map sectors. Each new biome unlocks additional crops. Collect these valuable crops and seeds by interacting with plants.

Harvesting methods vary by crop type: bush plants are picked (blueberries, tomatoes), ground crops are plucked (coffee beans, sugar beets), taller crops are cut with a scythe (wheat), and mushrooms are gathered from tree bases.

Exercise caution when collecting Reishi Mushrooms, as they're vital to island ecology. Consult your Field Guide to maintain ecological balance.

Step Two: Creating Soil from Animal Manure

The livestock inhabiting Aloft's sky islands leave behind manure, a valuable resource.

Collect these piles of manure by interacting with them. Store a good supply on your home island, as manure is a key ingredient for soil creation.

Construct a Compost Bin (recipe found in a Knowledge Stone) to convert manure into soil. Add manure to the bin and press the button when the meter indicator is within the white bar for optimal soil production.

Step Three: Planting Your Garden

With seeds and soil ready, begin farming! Craft a Farm Plot (recipe obtained during exploration) from the Construction menu's Home Garden tab. Till the plot using a Dorkip before planting.

Plant one seed per tilled plot. The number of plants per seed varies by crop. Harvested crops may regrow daily (if applicable). While raw crops provide a health boost, cooking unlocks further benefits.

Remember to water your plants! Dry, cracked soil indicates the need for watering. Rain provides natural watering, or use a bucket filled with Dirty Water.
