More AMD Ryzen AI 300 series APUs with 'bigger' numbers are reportedly on the way

The AMD Strix Point series currently consists of two consumer APUs: the Ryzen AI 9 HX 370and the Ryzen AI 9 365. There's also one custom chip that goes by Ryzen AI 9 HX 375. But it seems that these are not the only options that the company has planned for the Ryzen AI 300 lineup.A reputable tipster named Golden Pig Upgrade reports that more SKUs are on the way.

Interestingly, Golden Pig Upgrade says that the upcoming Zen 5 APUs will have "big" numbers, and there could be a different naming scheme for the high-end options. The tipster predicts that AMD may release new Strix Point processors with "Ryzen AI Max Plus" branding, which sounds very similar to what Apple does to its SoCs (18/512 GB MacBook Pro with Apple M3 Pro curr. $1,699 on Amazon).

Not much is known about these upper-tier APUs besides that they are expected to be more powerful than the current Ryzen AI processors. However, per speculation, AMD could launch the Strix Halo processorswithin the 300 series. If that does turn out to be true, the company doesn't really have many options in the current naming scheme. In such a case, a different naming, as pointed out by Golden Pig Upgrade, would make more sense.

To fill you in, Strix Halo, according to leaked AMD documents, is expected to come with an XDNA NPU that can deliver 60 TOPs. The customized Ryzen AI 9 HX 375, in comparison, can offer 55 TOPs. Strix Halo is also rumored to sport an advanced design, with up to 16 Zen 5 cores and an RDNA 3.5 iGPU with 40 CUs.
