HEAD请求，如果指定的资源将通过带有一个 HTTP GET方法请求所返回的标头。例如，在决定下载大量资源以节省带宽之前，可以完成这样的请求。

对HEAD方法的回应不应该有一个机构。如果是这样，它必须被忽略。即使如此，描述实体标题主体内容的，类似于Content-Length也可能包含在响应中。它们与HEAD应答的主体没有关系，应该是空的，但是对于使用GET方法的类似请求的主体来说，该应答将作为响应返回。

如果HEAD请求的结果显示GET请求后的缓存资源现在已过期，则即使没有GET请求，缓存也会失效。
