macOS: How to copy and share text from videos using Live Text
In macOS Monterey, Apple has introduced a feature called Live Text that displays text when it appears in images in Safari, Photos, Previews, Quick Look, and elsewhere. Text can be automatically recognized, allowing you to easily copy or share it. In macOS Ventura, this feature now extends to video as well.

Now you can not only select text in your photos, but you can also pause the video and interact with the text just like you would with an image. Within a paused video frame, you can copy, paste, or translate any text, and it also works with Apple's Find feature.

Live text works in macOS Photos, Quick Look, Safari, and other video-enabled apps. This feature is available in German (Germany), English (Australia, Canada, India, Singapore, UK, US), Spanish (Spain), French (France), and Japanese (Japan). Here's how to make it work on video.

  1. Pause the video at the frame where the text is displayed.
  2. Highlight the text you want to copy by clicking and dragging the selection with your mouse cursor.
  3. Next, right-click (or Ctrl-click) the highlighted text to see a menu of contextual options, including Translate, Copy, and Share.

If you choose to translate text, the translation will automatically appear on the screen. If you choose to copy text, switch to an application that supports text input, right-click where your cursor is, and select Paste from the pop-up menu or press the Command-V shortcut .
