On May 22, it was reported that six former employees filed a lawsuit against Twitter and Elon Musk, leading the city of San Francisco to decide to launch a new investigation into Musk’s plan to transform Twitter’s headquarters.

According to ITBEAR Technology Information, the six former employees claimed that Musk and Twitter were accused of fraud, breach of contract and labor rights laws in the lawsuit, and alleged unpaid severance pay. They also revealed plans for a "Twitter hotel" in Musk's vision.

After taking over Twitter last October, Musk was investigated by the San Francisco Department of Building Inspection after he converted some office space into bedrooms. City building inspectors asked the company to properly designate bedrooms as sleeping areas.

On Friday, San Francisco Department of Building Inspection spokesman Patrick Hannan said that in light of the previous lawsuit, the department would file a new complaint and investigate the new allegations.

Joseph Killian, who used to be the Global Head of Architecture and Design at Twitter, was one of the six former employees of the company. He claims he was told in the lawsuit that changes had to be made to the layout of Musk's employees' bedrooms.

When city inspectors conducted their first investigation in December, they were surprised and pleased with the bedroom layout Killian was shown, the lawsuit states. "It was just furniture! We were expecting huge changes," they said.

According to the lawsuit, the "transition team" asked Killian not to disclose details of future plans during the inspection.

In addition, the lawsuit documents also mention that Killian expressed concerns to leadership that the door locks would not open automatically when the fire suppression system was activated, believing that this violated California building codes.

It was alleged that Killian resigned shortly after because his refusal to install a door lock could endanger his life.

The City of San Francisco is currently conducting further investigations to assess whether further action is needed to address the allegations stemming from Musk's plans to renovate Twitter's headquarters.
