Microsoft has restructured its organization to better develop software for Android, according to a report from Windows Central. Surface Duo OS, SwiftKey, Phone Link, Microsoft Launcher and other Android projects will become part of Microsoft's new Android Platforms and Experiences (AMPX) division, according to the reorganization announced in a memo by chief product officer (CPO) Panos Panay. A Microsoft spokesperson confirmed the existence of the memo: "Like all companies, we regularly evaluate our business. We recently made organizational changes to accelerate our impact and better serve our customers and partners.”

With Android, Microsoft has more freedom in what its software solutions can do, taking Microsoft as an example Launcher, for example, can completely redefine the look and feel of an Android device but it won't have this freedom on the iPhone.
