As Apple continues its efforts to expand the health capabilities of its wearables, one of the features expected to launch soon is blood pressure monitoring. Don't expect this to happen with the Apple Watch Series 8 this fall or even the following year, as Apple encountered accuracy issues during development. Apple Watch Series 7 may offer Apple’s blood pressure feature. The Apple Watch doesn't display actual systolic/diastolic blood pressure readings, but it does show the user's blood pressure trends.

Apple has had issues developing the feature, and blood pressure monitoring won’t appear on the Apple Watch until “2024 at the earliest.” Accuracy has been a major challenge in getting the new Apple Watch sensor to read blood pressure during testing. Apple doesn't plan to provide specific blood pressure readings. Instead, it will use the ability to alert users if they have high blood pressure and recommend talking to their doctor.

Apple Health already works with many smart blood pressure monitors, such as the Withings BPM, which can take specific systolic/diastolic blood pressure readings.

While non-invasive blood glucose monitoring is also something Apple has been working on, Bloomberg also said that the Apple Watch feature is still "a few years away" and the company did not give a target release date.

However, new health features around sleep, fitness, medication management and women’s health are still expected to launch later this year.
