Join and remove from security groups

In the console, you can add an instance to a security group. An ECS instance can join up to 5 security groups.

Join the security group

Log in to the ECS management console.

Click Instances in the left navigation bar.

Click the region at the top of the page.

Select the required instance, click the name of the instance, or Manage on the right, it will jump to the instance details page.

Click on the security group of this instance.

Click to join the security group. In the pop-up dialog box, select the required security group.

Click OK.

After joining the security group, the rules of the security group will automatically take effect on the instance and do not need to be updated.

Move out of a security group

When an instance joins more than two security groups, you can move the instance out of a security group based on business needs. Group.

Note

An instance needs to join at least one security group, so when an instance joins only one security group, you cannot move it out of the security group.

Removing an ECS instance from a security group will cause the ECS instance to be disconnected from the network in the current security group. It is recommended that you conduct sufficient testing before moving out.
