Module in Python is a Python file, ending with .py, containing Python object definitions and Python statements. Modules allow you to organize your Python code segments logically. Assigning related code into a module can make your code more usable and easier to understand. Modules in Python can define functions, classes and variables, and modules can also contain executable code.

First of all, we need to understand the difference between modules, libraries, and packages in python

Modules in python are:
Self-contained and organized pieces of code are modules.
The expression is: the written code is saved as a file. This file is a module. sample.py where the file name smaple is the module name.

The python package is:
The package is a hierarchical file directory structure, which defines a python application execution environment composed of n modules or n sub-packages.
In layman terms: a package is a directory containing an __init__.py file. This directory must have this __init__.py file and other modules or sub-packages.

The python library is:
Referring to other programming languages, it refers to a collection of codes in python that completes certain functions and is a combination of codes for users to use. In python it is in the form of packages and modules.

Example

The following example is a simple module support.py:

support.py Module:

def print_func( par ):
    print "Hello : ", par
   return
Copy after login

Now that we have mentioned The module in Python is a file, so how do we search for it at certain times?

Search path

When you import a module, the Python parser’s search order for module locations is:

1 , Current directory

2. If it is not in the current directory, Python searches every directory under the shell variable PYTHONPATH.

3. If neither is found, Python will check the default path. Under UNIX, the default path is generally /usr/local/lib/python/.

The module search path is stored in the sys.path variable of the system module. The variables contain the current directory, PYTHONPATH and the default directory determined by the installation process.
