PHP timestamp problem mktime gmmktime

I want to get the timestamp. I saw that there are two methods mktime() and gmmktime(). One is to get the local timestamp and the other is the UTC timestamp. After I print it out, the timestamps are the same and there should be no difference. Is it 8 hours? The local timestamp is Beijing time. Can anyone explain it?

Forgive me for being ignorant, aren’t timestamps all UTC? You can only get the local time after formatting.

After taking a look, the difference between these two functions is the processing of the parameters passed in. mktimedefaults to local time, gmmktimedefaults to Greenwich Mean Time (GMT).

For example, in the other answers above, mktime(1,50,15,4,15,2012)returns the timestamp of local time1:50:15 on April 15, 2012, gmmktime (1,50,15,4,15,2012)returns the timestamp of GMT at 1:50:15 on April 15, 2012, so the natural results are different.

The time zone of local time is set through the date.timezone option in php.ini, or by calling the date_default_timezone_set function.

If the parameter is omitted, the default is the current time, which is naturally the same (even if you set the time zone, the timestamp is still based on UTC, so it is still the same).

If you just want to get the current timestamp, it is recommended to use the time function. The above two functions are mainly used to obtain the timestamp corresponding to a specific local time or GMT.
