1. Download the software:
http://www.php.net/distributions/php-4.0.0-Win32.zip
2. Use WinZIP and other decompression tools to unzip php-4.0.0-Win32.zip to PHP installation directory, such as C:PHP. In this article, $PHP_ROOT is used to replace the PHP installation directory;
3. For detailed English installation documentation, please refer to the README.txt file in the $PHP_ROOT directory;
4. Replace the PHP installation directory in the $PHP_ROOT directory. Copy the php.ini-dist file to the C:WINNT directory, and rename C:WINNTphp.ini-d ist to C:WINNTphp.ini; 5. Copy MSVCRT.DLL and php4ts.dll in the $PHP_ROOT directory to C:WINNTsystem32 directory. If these files already exist in the C:WINNTsystem32 directory, please do not overwrite them;
6. Modify C:WINNTphp.ini:
1) Set extension_dir to the PHP installation directory, such as: extension_dir = C:PHP
2) Configure the dynamic link library (DLL) to be loaded. Be sure to ensure that only the dynamic link libraries that exist in the $PHP_ROOT directory can be loaded. This version comes with these dynamic link libraries: php_calendar.dll, php_imap.dll , php_ldap
