I have been using PHP 4.04 for a while and I feel very good, especially this 3M full version comes with a lot of good stuff. But seeing that many friends are still using the old version, I highly recommend it.

PHP 4.0.4 - 19 December 2000
(3.79 Mb CGI binary and ISAPI module included, MySQL support built-in, many
extensions included, packaged as zip )
(3.79 Mb already contains CGI and ISAPI modules, built-in support for MySQL, and contains many extension modules, in Zip format)
The accompanying instructions are too long, now I will only talk about the installation under Apache ( Most people use Apache, right? ):
Assume that Apache is installed under c:Apache, PHP is extracted to c:PHP, and the windows directory is
c:windows (win98) or c:winnt (win2000).
1. Close Apache.
Edit c:Apacheconfhttpd.conf and add these lines according to your situation:
2. Copy c:PHPphp4ts.dll to c:windowssystem (win98) or
c:winntsystem32 (win2000). Overwrite any existing files.
# Install as Apache module, add the following lines to httpd.conf:
LoadModule php4_module c:/php/sapi/php4apache.dll
AddType application/x-httpd-php .php
(Isn’t it better than using mod_php4 -4.x.zip is much more convenient)
# Install in CGI mode, add the following lines to httpd.conf:
ScriptAlias /php/ "C:/php/"
Action application/x-httpd-php4 "/ php/php.exe"
AddType application/x-httpd-php4 .php
3. Copy c:php.ini-dist to c:windows (win98) or c:winnt (win2000), and change the name to php. ini, edit it to suit your needs.
What must be changed is extension_dir = c:/php
4. Restart Apache.
The above introduces the concise installation of PHP404, including all aspects. I hope it will be helpful to friends who are interested in PHP tutorials.
