That’s why it’s important to automate as much as possible, and in Schedule 1, you can automate most of your day-to-day farming operations by hiring employees so that you can focus on other tasks.

One of the most important employees you’ll want to hire right away is the Botanist. The Botanist will handle all your plant-related chores, including growing and harvesting your special herbs.

A Botanist Will Help Take Care Of Your Plants

As you start building your drug empire in Schedule 1, a significant portion of the early gameplay hours will be spent on planting, watering, and harvesting your goods. Once you're able, you can hire a botanist to help free up your time. You won’t be able to hire a Botanist as soon as you start playing, as the upfront cost is a significant $1,000, so you’ll need to save for it. There’s also a daily salary of $200, which might seem steep, but it’s worth it.

Hiring a Botanist is a bit different than finding more dealers for your business. Head to the Fixer located in the Warehouse at Hoodlum V. Of course, you’ll need to unlock it first, but once you do, you can hire various workers from here. You can find the warehouse across the street from Taco Tickler. Just head upstairs and you’ll arrive at the recruitment area. The recruitment area is open from 6 PM to 6 AM. Once hired, you’ll have to assign the Botanist to the correct facility and tasks.

After hiring a Botanist, set them up by assigning a bed using the Management Clipboard to track their location and wages. Next, provide supplies like soil, pot or coke seeds, and fertilizers, and make sure they have storage linked to their workstations. Set up grow pots for planting and shelves for storing crops. Assign the Botanist to several grow pots. Make sure each pot has the right herb recipe, and connect the storage for the harvested crops. While initially you'll be limited to what you can make, later on you'll be able to make better products like meth using pseudo.

At the end of each day, deposit their daily salary into the suitcase next to their bed. Without pay, they will stop working, and you’ll be back to doing things yourself.

Place Packers near the shelves to handle packaging while the Botanist focuses on planting, watering, and harvesting.

Always check your supply levels for soil, seeds, and fertilizers to avoid running out, which could stop production. Restock regularly to keep things running smoothly. If your Botanist isn’t working in Schedule 1, the most common issue is a lack of supplies. Make sure storage areas are properly linked to their assigned grow pots and shelves. If the storage isn’t connected, the Botanist won’t be able to access materials like soil, seeds, or fertilizers, preventing them from working. Double-check that you have enough of these supplies available.

Another possible cause is obstructions in the Botanist's path. Clear any items or furniture around their workstations to allow them to move freely. A cluttered area can prevent them from completing tasks, so maintaining a clear workspace is important.

If these steps don’t solve the problem, try reloading Schedule 1 to fix any potential bugs. You can also manually complete some tasks, like planting or harvesting, to kick-start the Botanist’s routine. If the issue persists, check for game updates or patches to fix any bugs that might be preventing them from working.
