Hulu's Best New Show Has A Near-Perfect Rotten Tomatoes Score
That would be Alien: Earth on Hulu — yet another entry in the ever-expanding Alien franchise, arriving not long after Alien: Romulus. But this one’s historic: it's the first-ever Alien television series. And it’s not just making history — it’s making waves, already being hailed by some as “The Andor of Alien.”
Fresh off 62 reviews, Alien: Earth sits at a stellar 94% on Rotten Tomatoes — Certified Fresh. That’s impressive by today’s TV standards, but what’s more remarkable is that it now ties for the best-reviewed Alien project of all time. Yes, it’s level with the original 1979 Alien at 94%, just edging past Aliens at 93%. We’re talking about a franchise that launched nearly half a century ago. Here’s how the scores stack up:

- Alien: Earth – 94%
- Aliens – 94%
- Alien – 93%
- Alien: Romulus – 80%
- Prometheus – 73%
- Alien: Covenant – 65%
- Alien Resurrection – 55%
- Alien 3 – 44%
- Alien vs. Predator – 21%
- Aliens vs. Predator: Requiem – 12%
Just a week ago, I wrote a similar piece when Alien: Earth was sitting at 90% — good, but only third in the franchise rankings. Now, with more critics weighing in, the score has actually climbed, which is rare for a new show. Usually, scores dip as more reviews come in.
So what’s the show about? Set two years before the events of the original 1979 classic, here’s the official synopsis:
"When a mysterious space vessel crash-lands on Earth, Wendy and a ragtag group of tactical soldiers make a fateful discovery that puts them face-to-face with the planet’s greatest threat."
Surprisingly, the only major star in the cast is Timothy Olyphant, fresh off Justified, while the rest are relatively unknowns. But the real draw is the creator: Noah Hawley — the mind behind some of FX and Hulu’s most daring series like Legion and Fargo. Now, he's taken on the Alien universe, and so far, it's his most critically acclaimed project yet.
This isn’t a binge drop — Hulu typically doesn’t go that route (except for The Bear). Instead, Alien: Earth kicks off with a two-episode premiere, with the remaining six of its eight-episode season rolling out weekly through the end of September. A second season hasn’t been confirmed, but strong viewership and buzz could easily change that. For now, it’s not billed as a limited series.
This one’s shaping up to be something special. Stay tuned — my full review is coming soon.

HBO's 'Harry Potter' Show Gets A Release Date Update, First Harry Photo

The show has released many casts one after another, and recently it has exposed the casting of the three protagonists, Harry, Ron and Hermione for the first time. Currently, HBO has released its first official stills, showing the 11-year-old new Harry actor Dominic McLaughlin, who wore a Hogwarts school uniform and starred in Porter for the first time. It is worth noting that if the photo shows the first scene, it means they did not start shooting from the Dursleys before Harry's admission. The other two starring Alastair Stout as Ron and Arabella Stanton as Hermione, HBO was back in May
