Philips Hue has unveiled several new versions of the Tento ceiling panel for the EU. The original round version of the smart light was unveiled earlier this year and went on sale in Europe in August. Now, the smart light arrives in five new square variants.
The Tento square comes in two sizes, 30 x 30 cm (~12 x 12 inches) and 40 x 40 cm (~16 x 16 inches), with three light sources: white, white ambiance and white and color ambiance. Plus, customers can choose between black or white frames. The peak brightness levels of the smart lights range between 1,560 and 2,000 lumens, and some light shines onto the ceiling to create a glow. Controls for brightness, color temperature and color are offered via the Philips Hue app, or you could use voice commands or a smart light switch to adjust the light. According to Philips, the Class E efficient light source can run for up to 25,000 hours, and the products come with a 2-year warranty.
The new model shares many similarities with the older Surimu. When comparing the smaller 30 cm (~12 inches) square, the Tento has rounded corners and a lower brightness level at 1,340 lumens versus the 1,760 lumens of the Surimu. However, the latest model is significantly cheaper at €149.99, asthe equivalent Surimu costs €229.99.
