TikTok coin enthusiast @thecoincollectoruk revealed in a recent video that these scarce 50ps are currently fetching around £50 on eBay and Facebook coin collector groups, making it the second most valuable 50p behind the Kew Gardens coin.

He further explained: "It's believed that the [version of the Salmon 50p] in circulation could have a mintage as low as half a million - making it one of the rarest 50p of all time. The hype around this coin keeps getting bigger, and with that the price increases."

The value of the Atlantic Salmon coin could potentially rise to around £100, the expert speculated. However, he also warned that the value could plummet when the Royal Mint announces mintage figures, if they turn out to be higher than currently rumoured.
