Samsung Galaxy Ring teardown reveals that the smart ring cannot be repaired

They also noted that the battery can't be replaced without destroying the wearable.

That made iFixit note that the Samsung Galaxy Ring wasn't "designed to last more than two years." This statement makes sense because phone batteries can hold their optimal capacity for about two years, and it's not any different for the batteries inside wearables such as smart rings and smartwatches.

After the teardown, iFixit noted that the Galaxy Ring is a simple device, but the team says that the smart ring is nothing but a "disposable tech accessory." That means you will need to throw the wearablein the bin for a simple issue such as a dead battery. The good part is that Samsung's standard warranty policy applies to its wearables. So, as long as it's under warranty, you can get a replacement.

While being unrepairable is bad news for those who own or are planning to buy the Galaxy Ring (available on Amazon), hopefully, the European Union's right-to-repair legislation can force the companies to make their accessories repairable in the future. After all, many don't purchase gadgets just to use them for a year or two.
