If you're in the market for an affordable, name-brand VR headset that isn't associated with Meta in any way, you'll be pleased to know that Sony has heavily slashed the PS VR 2's price by $200, bringing its price down to $349 on Best Buy. If you want a copy of Horizon: Call of the Mountain to go with it, you'll have to fork out $399 on Best Buy and Amazon.
The best part is, you can also use it with your PC, but you'll have to shell out an extra $60 for the PS VR 2 to PC adapter, which launches on August 7. Unfortunately, some features such as adaptive triggers on the controller, HDR and eye tracking are not available on PC. Furthermore, Sony says not all Bluetooth controllers will work with PS VR and will reveal more about it later.
This is as good a time as any to snag a PS VR 2 headset, as Sony seems to be intent on clearing existing stock. After all, it has reportedly suspended production due to piles of unsold inventory. Even though PlayStation's VR catalog is nothing to write home about, you can enjoy PC classics such as Half Life: Alyx, Blade & Sorcery and Elite Dangerous in all their VR glory.
