Originally extensions had little impact on linux, but this year Linux has slowly started to use extensions to identify file types.
You don’t need to write an extension for window files.
It doesn’t have to be a binary file without an extension.
Git does not have an interface to ignore by judging the file content, unless you write it yourself.

If there is a problem with a single file, ignore the entire directory.
