Microsoft fixes bug causing flashing and File Explorer issues in Windows 11 Safe Mode

Microsoft has updated the Windows 11 health dashboard with details about new issues that are now fixed in the operating system. Windows 11 users may experience strange screen flickering after entering Safe Mode without networking capabilities, according to the company's findings. Additionally, the bug causes stability issues in various parts of the operating system that rely on explorer.exe — a process responsible for rendering shells, file explorers, and more.

Fixing errors does not require installing new updates or removing updates. The software giant uses a neat "known issue rollback" system to quietly roll back updates with bugs and instabilities. The flickering display issue should resolve without user intervention, but may take up to 24 hours to apply. To speed up this process, Microsoft recommends restarting your computer.

Of course, users don’t boot in safe mode for no reason. People use it most of the time to fix corrupted systems that cannot boot in regular mode. If you need to start Windows 11 in Safe Mode and your display is flashing, try Safe Mode with Networking.

According to official documentation, this vulnerability affects the KB5012643 (OS Build 22000.652) system released on April 25, 2022. The update contains an extensive list of bug fixes and improvements that will be included in the monthly cumulative update released on May 10, 2022.
