What to do if Linux cannot ping the gateway

What should I do if Linux cannot ping the gateway?

I installed CentOS6.5 in VMWare, using the bridge connection mode. I used to be able to access the external network, but then I couldn’t. I could ping the host, but I couldn’t ping the gateway. I found one online. It still cannot be solved for a long time.

Finally, I changed the bridge connection to NAT, reconfigured the IP, gateway, etc. of ipcfg-eth0, restarted the network, and finally connected.

No problem pinging the host, gateway, and external network!

Summary:

Don’t be stubborn, why do you have to hold down the bridge connection? Change it, and everything will be OK!
