Pages is a word processing and page layout tool that can help you create beautiful documents, newsletters, reports and many other contents. Developed by Apple Computer, it is a member of the iWork three-piece suite. The other two tools are the table creation tool Numbers and the slideshow creation tool Keynote, which are equivalent to Excel and PowerPoint in Microsoft Office. Its latest version is Pages'13, released in 2013.
Pages Features
Pages supports multi-column typesetting, text paragraph styles, footnotes and other advanced word processing features. It provides users with powerful template function support. Both AppleWorks and Microsoft Word files can be imported, and files can be exported to a variety of other formats. Shapes can be drawn directly in the document and their properties can be modified directly. Graphics can be inserted into documents, wrapped around text, set with shadows, rotated at multiple angles, and more.
Pages can create lists, columns, URL links, date and time, page numbers and other objects, and can accept data from iTunes, iMovie and iPhoto. Pages can also be used to create news reports, publications, blank documents, essays, files, invitations, teaching materials and other types of documents. Created documents can be exported to RTF, HTML, Word, PDF or Pages file formats. Its basic positioning is to implement some basic typesetting and word processing functions, while Microsoft Word and Adobe InDesign are more suitable for publishing large advertisements and entire printed books.
Some features of Pages are very popular, such as the paragraph style drawer, the inspector palette, and the spell check function integrated into the Mac OS X system, but some users are also dissatisfied. It does not have the grammar checking, correction, dictionary and other functions that Microsoft Publisher has. It was not improved until Pages in Mac OS X 10.4 version.
