The founder of the Italian luxury brand Dolce & Gabbana made some insulting remarks that exposed his arrogant and dirty heart, which also made his brand pay the price: Shanghai show cancellation, spokesperson The contract was terminated and all e-commerce stores were removed.
The general process of the matter is: D&G released several promotional videos in preparation for the Shanghai show. Among them was a video of a Chinese model eating Italian food with chopsticks. From the content to the style, many viewers felt Disgusted. So the video was later taken offline. If the matter ends here, it can only be regarded as "alleged" and "controversial" at best. But later its founder vented his dissatisfaction to netizens on Instagram, saying that if his ideas were followed, he would "definitely not delete the video" and would say that China is the "country of ***" in all future international interviews. This is obviously not a difference in understanding of different cultures, right?
There have been overwhelming comments on this matter, and my opinion is not lacking. But I want to talk about a detail: When the incident was first exposed, the person involved, Stefano Gabbana, argued that his account had been hacked. Although this reason seems very perfunctory now, I did think about it at the time, is there such a possibility? Reminiscent of the anonymous anonymous article that broke the news about Trump in the New York Times, a programmer conducted a correlation analysis between the content of the article and the Twitter content of Trump’s cabinet members and published it on Github. Is it possible to compare this conversation with Gabbana’s daily remarks and analyze their relevance?
So I tried 3 correlation comparison methods. But unfortunately, the result cannot be said to be bad, I can only say... emmmm... this is a metaphysics. Because most of the existing text correlation or similarity analysis is based on semantics. In other words, the degree of similarity between A and B expressing the same thing is likely to be greater than that between A himself expressing two different things. So much so that I feel that a similar situation may exist in the analysis of anonymous articles in the New York Times: the vice president has the highest correlation, perhaps mainly because the topics covered by his usual remarks are closer to the articles. In this case, it is not very reliable to judge whether it is a person or not. In addition, Gabbana’s previous releases and this conversation were very short, and the sample size was very small, with almost no reference.
However, I later checked his Instagram and found some clues that are worth analyzing:
1. Single quotes
There is a symbol that is not in Chinese but is very common in English: ' (single quotation mark), such as I'm Crossin. But in Gabbana's post on ig, what is actually used is not the most common English half-width single quotation mark, but a unicode character '. Most people may not pay attention, but I am very familiar with this, because countless Python beginners report errors because they do not use English half-width quotation marks in the first code!
#But coincidentally, this special single quotation mark was also used in the exposed conversation. The D&G official account, which claims to have been hacked at the same time, does not have this habit.
#2. Punctuation habits
I grabbed Gabbana’s 30 recent ig tweets and found that he likes to use consecutive words in his posts. There are 3~4 exclamation marks, 8 out of 30 items. In the exposure dialogue, there are also 4 consecutive exclamation points and 4 consecutive question marks.
In addition, he also likes to use the ellipses of..., and unlike many people who will use 3 dots, the number of them is variable and usually 4 or more. points, 4 out of 30, and only one has 3 points. The dialogue is 3 points in one place and 4 points in two places.
Also, few people put spaces before punctuation. But it also happens occasionally in his conversations and tweets. These are all determined by typing habits and input methods. If you change the person or even the mobile phone, it may be different.
3. Continuous expressions
Looking at the summary picture below, it is too obvious: this person extremely likes to use emoji expressions, uses continuous expressions, and is very fond of ❤️ Soft spot.
And the most shameful sentence this time just fits this style!
#For those who don’t have this habit, you may not be able to find it if you are asked to type this expression right away.
4. Ending
Some people like to add a period at the end of their posts, even if it’s just one word. For example, their official account:
And Gabbana is not like this. Of the conversations and 30 tweets, only one ended in . On the contrary, recent account hacking statements and apology statements all end with ., without emoticons or exclamation points. On the contrary, it does not conform to his usual writing habits...
Why is this? According to his habit, shouldn't it be:
My Instagram account has been hacked !!!!! It's NOT ME !!!!! I love China and the Chinese Culture ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
Although from the above details, it cannot be said with certainty that Gabbana must not have hacked the account. But to say the least, there is nothing in these dialogues that is very inconsistent with his previous writing style. Even if it is really stolen, then this hacker is really a master. Not only is he skilled, but he also takes so much effort to imitate... I admire him!!!!!!
Having said that, I It's also unnecessary. Because the account has been stolen, Instagram officials can tell it at a glance from the login record. Previously, officials issued a statement proving that the account of American female singer Selena Gomez was stolen. If it is really stolen, it is easy to confirm. However, the two founders of D&G did not mention the so-called account theft in the so-called "apology" video. Everyone must be aware of it.
There are cultural differences, which is normal, but this is not an excuse for some people to be arrogant and arrogant. If you make a mistake, you must admit it, and if you are beaten, you must stand upright. Don't think about that again, think about that again. Those who look down on others will eventually be looked down upon by others.
Although I have never bought D&G before (because they don’t have plaid shirts and backpacks), after this time, there is no possibility of visiting it in the future. Bye-Bye!
