Let us congratulate the winners!
This week, the world’s top AI conference AAAI 2024 officially opened, and many important awards such as the Outstanding Paper Award have been announced.
AAAI is the full name of the Association for the Advancement of Artificial Intelligence. The on-site conference held every year by the association is one of the oldest and most extensive international top academic conferences in the field of artificial intelligence. This year has ushered in its 38th session. According to the directory of international academic conferences and journals recommended by the Computer Society of China, AAAI is listed as a Class A conference in the field of artificial intelligence.
It is understood that this year’s AAAI conference received a record 10,504 main track submissions, a number that once again set a new historical record. After a comprehensive and rigorous review, 2,527 papers were successfully admitted, with an admission rate of 24.1%, an increase from before.
This conference will be held at the Vancouver Convention Center in Canada from February 20th to 27th.

Outstanding Paper AwardThis Thursday, AAAI 2024 announced the Outstanding Paper Award. A total of three papers were selected. There are many Chinese among the authors.
Paper 1: Reliable Conflictive Multi-view Learning
The AAAI Conference "Classic Paper Award" was established in 1999 to recognize the authors of the most influential papers selected from a specific conference year. This year the award was awarded to the most influential paper of the 23rd AAAI, "Maximum Entropy Inverse Reinforcement Learning", on the grounds that this research introduced entropy regularization into reinforcement learning, thereby improving prediction, imitation learning, decision-making and human - Prediction accuracy of AI alignment.

Paper author: Brian Ziebart, Andrew Maas, Andrew Bagnell, Anind Dey
Institution: CMU
Paper abstract: Research has shown that it is beneficial to design imitation learning problems as solutions to Markov Decision Problems (Markov Decision Problems) of. This approach reduces the learning process to the problem of recovering a utility function.
This work develops a probabilistic method based on the maximum entropy principle, which provides a well-defined global normalized distribution over the decision sequence while providing the same performance guarantees as existing methods. Researchers develop technology in the context of modeling real-world navigation and driving behavior, and the data collected is inherently noisy and imperfect. The probabilistic method proposed in this paper can model route preferences and provide a powerful new method for inferring destinations and routes based on partial trajectories.
AI Human Wellbeing AwardAAAI’s AI Human Wellbeing Award honors AI researchers who protect, enhance, and improve human life and have a long-term positive impact on people’s lives. .
This year’s recipient of this award is Milind Tambe, a professor of computer science at Harvard University. Milind Tambe is a AAAI Fellow and ACM Fellow. He is also the director of Google Research’s “AI for Social Good” program.
Robert S. Engelmore Memorial AwardThe Robert S. Engelmore Memorial Award recognizes an individual who has made outstanding contributions to automated planning, the application of machine learning and robotics to real-world problems, and broad service to the artificial intelligence community. This year’s award was awarded to Raquel Urtasun (University of Toronto) in recognition of her “outstanding contributions to machine learning, computer vision and entrepreneurship in the field of autonomous driving.” AAAI/EAAI Patrick Henry Winston Outstanding Educator Award The annual AAAI/EAAI Outstanding Educator Award aims to recognize those who have made significant contributions to artificial intelligence education. An individual (or group) who brings lasting benefits to the AI community and society as a whole. The 2024 winners are Charles Isbell (University of Wisconsin-Madison) and Michael L. Littman (Brown University), who are recognized for "reaching thousands of students through online courses and through creative Promote innovative teaching of artificial intelligence and machine learning to the public in an entertaining and entertaining way." AAAI Distinguished Service Award The AAAI Distinguished Service Award annually recognizes an individual for outstanding service to the artificial intelligence community. This year’s winner is Ashok Goel. The conference commends him for his “contribution to the field of artificial intelligence through his broad leadership, especially as the editor-in-chief of AI Magazine and the founding editor of Interactive AI Magazine.” "Distinguished service and continued interdisciplinary contributions to artificial intelligence education".
