Chairman Liu Deyin said that overseas investment is now on the right track, and the progress of factories in Japan, the United States and Germany will be in accordance with the original plan. We are currently planning to build a third factory in Kaohsiung.

Kumamoto Factory, Japan

TSMC stated that the Kumamoto factory is still proceeding as planned and is expected to open on February 24 Ceremony, production will begin in April 2024, and mass production will begin in the fourth quarter. The factory's monthly production capacity is expected to reach 55,000 12-inch wafers.

According to public information on this site, TSMC’s Kumamoto Factory No. 1 plans to produce semiconductors with mature processes such as 12/16 nm and 22/28 nm.

US Factory

Liu Deyin said that TSMC and the Arizona Building and Construction Industry Commission (AZBTC) signed a cooperation agreement and will carry out employee training and other activities to achieve a win-win situation for both parties.

The U.S. factory plans to mass-produce the 4nm process in the first half of 2025, with manufacturing quality and reliability reaching the level of existing factories.

German Factory

Liu Deyin said that the project will be mainly used to meet the needs of the automotive and industrial fields. After receiving the support of the joint venture partners, the German state government and the municipal government, construction is planned to start in the second half of 2024 as originally planned.

Liu Deyin also said that in order to meet the growth in customer demand, they plan to expand 3-nanometer production capacity in the Tainan Science Park. Moreover, they plan to start mass production of 2-nanometer products in 2025 and set up production bases in Hsinchu and Kaohsiung.
