What does network node mean?

A network node refers to a computer or other device connected to a network with an independent address and the ability to transmit or receive data. Nodes can be workstations, clients, network users, or personal computers, but they can also be servers, printers, and other network-connected devices. Every workstation, server, terminal device, and network device, that is, a device with its own unique network address, is a network node. The entire network is composed of many network nodes. Many network nodes are connected with communication lines to form a certain geometric relationship. This is the computer network topology.

Core Node

The topology of the backbone network is logically divided into two layers, namely the core layer and the regional layer.

Core layer

The core layer consists of core nodes in 8 cities including Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou, Shenyang, Nanjing, Wuhan, Chengdu, and Xi'an.

The function of the core layer is mainly to provide interconnection with the international internet and provide a channel for information exchange between regions. Among them, the Beijing, Shanghai, and Guangzhou core layer nodes each have an international exit router, which is responsible for interconnecting with the international Internet, and two core routers interconnecting with other core nodes; other core nodes each have a core router.

There is an incomplete mesh structure between the core nodes. A three-center structure with Beijing, Shanghai, and Guangzhou as the centers, and other core nodes are connected to these three centers with at least two high-speed ATM links.

According to the traffic situation, the responsible coverage area is as follows:

Responsible areas in Beijing: Beijing, Hebei, Inner Mongolia, Shanxi, Liaoning, Henan, Jilin, Heilongjiang, Shandong

Shanghai Responsible Area: Shanghai, Zhejiang, Jiangsu, Anhui, Hubei, Tianjin, Jiangxi, Shaanxi, Gansu, Qinghai, Ningxia, Xinjiang, Guangxi

Guangzhou Responsible Area: Guangdong, Fujian, Hunan, Hainan, Sichuan, Yunnan, Guizhou, Tibet, Chongqing, and Guangxi

Regional level

The 31 provincial capital cities across the country are divided into 8 regional networks based on the administrative divisions, centered on the above 8 core nodes. The eight regional networks together constitute the regional layer. Each region has two regional exits, and other non-exit nodes in the region are connected to the two exits.

The regional layer mainly provides information exchange within the region and the information channel for the access network to chinanet.

Communication between regions must go through the core layer.

Node address

Each network node obtains a unique address through the network card. Every network card has a globally unique Media Access Control (Media Access Control) address fixed by the manufacturer when it leaves the factory. It is impossible for users to change this address. This kind of address arrangement is just like our daily home address. It is used to distinguish their respective identities. Your network must have the ability to distinguish this address from other addresses. In the network, there are many data packets that will be transmitted from one network node to another. At the same time, it is necessary to ensure that the packets will be correctly conveyed to the destination, and this destination must rely on the network card address to identify it.
