In the Java programming language, there are multiple ways to get the current date and time. Here, we will introduce to you two methods of using the java.util.Date and java.util.Calendar classes.

Using the java.util.Date class

Just create a new Date() object to get the current date and time. Using the following Java program, in this program we have also used DateTimeFormatter class to display the results in appropriate format as per the requirement.

import java.text.DateFormat;
import java.text.SimpleDateFormat;
import java.time.format.DateTimeFormatter;
import java.util.Calendar;
import java.util.Date;

public class GetDateTime
{
    public static void main( String[] args )
    {
        DateFormat dateFormat = new SimpleDateFormat("MM/dd/yyyy HH:mm:ss");
        Date date = new Date();
        System.out.println(dateFormat.format(date));
    }
}
Copy after login
输出:04/06/2019 13:23:36
Copy after login

Use the java.util.Calendar class

Use the Calendar.getInstance() function in the Calendar class. This provides options to manipulate calendar fields, such as getting dates for the next week or month, etc.

You can also use the date time format class above and the following example.

import java.util.Calendar;

public class GetDateTime
{
    public static void main( String[] args )
    {
        Calendar cal = Calendar.getInstance();
        System.out.println(cal.getTime());
    }
}
Copy after login
输出:Wed Apr 17 11:57:28 IST 2019
Copy after login

Using the Calendar class, you can also find dates and times in the past or future. For example, what is the date 10 days after or before the current date. Likewise, we can also get the date time in years, months, hours, minutes and seconds.

Example:

import java.util.Calendar;

public class GetDateTime
{
    public static void main( String[] args )
    {
        Calendar cal = Calendar.getInstance();
        System.out.println("当前日期及时间: " + cal.getTime());

        cal.add(Calendar.DATE, +10);
        System.out.println("10天后: " + cal.getTime());

        cal.add(Calendar.DATE, -10);
        System.out.println("10天前: " + cal.getTime());

        cal.add(Calendar.MONTH, 1);
        System.out.println("1个月后: " + cal.getTime());

        cal.add(Calendar.YEAR, 5);
        System.out.println("5年后: " + cal.getTime());
    }
}
Copy after login

Output:

当前日期及时间:  Wed Apr 17 12:06:05 IST 2019
10天后:   Sat Apr 27 12:06:05 IST 2019
10天前:  Wed Apr 17 12:06:05 IST 2019
1个月后:   Fri May 17 12:06:05 IST 2019
5年后:   Fri May 17 12:06:05 IST 2024
Copy after login
