The first character means that the file is "directory, file or link file, etc.":

When it is [ d ], it is a directory, such as the line with the file name ".gconf" in the above table;

If it is [b], it means a storage interface in the installation file Device (random access device);

The following characters are grouped into groups of three, and they are all combinations of the three parameters of "rwx". Among them, [ r ] represents readable (read), [ w ] represents writable (write), and [ x ] represents executable (execute). The first group is "File owner's permissions". Taking the file "install.log" as an example, the owner of the file can read and write, but cannot execute; the second group is "Same group" "Permissions"; the third group is "Permissions for other non-groups".
