DAIWA Scarlet Build Guide | Uma Musume Pretty Derby
Written by Priya Kapoor
Browse All Uma Musume: Pretty Derby This Daiwa Scarlet build in Uma Musume Pretty Derby centers around getting her into 1st place early and maintaining that position throughout the race. You don’t need fully maxed stats to win, but rather the correct setup and support.
Here’s how to effectively build her (one of my favorites)!
Stat Priorities
Speed
This is always your top priority. Red Ace only activates when she's already leading, so Speed is critical.
Power
Helps maintain the lead during turns. Aim for at least 500 .
Stamina
You’ll typically want 350 . That should be sufficient for most Medium races as long as you aren’t missing recovery skills.
Wit
Target 400 . It helps conserve stamina and activate skills smoothly.
Guts
Feel free to ignore this stat. It doesn’t benefit her role or this particular build at all.
Best Support Cards for Daiwa Scarlet
Recommended Setup
This strategy focuses on boosting Speed first, with just enough support to keep her stable and ahead.
4 Speed Cards*
At least four Speed cards are needed. These will carry most of your stats and help her take the lead early. Kitasan Black, Silence Suzuka, and Biwa Hayahide are excellent options. Choose any SSR or SR Speed card that offers good training boosts and front-runner skills.
1 Stamina Card
Super Creek is your best bet. She provides strong Stamina boosts and a reliable recovery skill, helping her stay composed in Medium races. One Stamina card is plenty.
1 Wit Card
Fine Motion is ideal. She contributes early Speed support, aids in stamina control, and increases the likelihood of triggering skills during races.
*If You Don’t Have 4 Speed Cards
Try using 3 Speed cards and add either a second Power card or a Wit card. Power gives more burst in races and helps with strength checks, while Wit improves energy and skill activation. Your overall Speed will drop slightly, but it can still work.
What to Avoid
Never run two Stamina cards. It shifts focus away from Speed and won’t provide much benefit unless you're aiming for Long races, which isn't the goal here.
Training Strategy
Speed is the core stat for this build. Your main objective is to boost it quickly and maintain high levels.
Focus on Speed Training
Always opt for Speed drills when available. You should aim to reach Level 4 or 5 in Speed training before the final stretch of the story.
When to Train Something Else
Only skip Speed if:
- 3 or more characters appear on another drill, especially Power or Wit
- A useful skill hint appears, such as Corner Adept or Straightaway Adept, on a non-Speed drill
Use Wit to Recover
Wit drills restore some stamina and are often better than resting, especially if they come with skill hints or friendship points. Use them to maintain stamina between Speed sessions.
Build Friendship Early
In the early stages, focus on building friendships with your support cards. Once they’re glowing, you'll gain far more stats from each drill.
REMEMBER TO SKIP GUTS!!!
Guts has no value in this build. Only take it if it appears accidentally or during a multi-support drill.
Best Skills for This Daiwa Scarlet Build
Red Ace
This is her most essential skill. It boosts Speed in the second half, but only if she's already leading. The entire build revolves around enabling this.
Corner Adept, Straightaway Adept
Both aid in early speed boosts, helping her grab the lead faster.
Firm Conditions
A safe option for most races. It supports common track types.
Homestretch Haste
Optional. Helps maintain the lead in the final stretch once Red Ace kicks in.
Swinging Maestro
Useful if your Stamina is low and you need extra recovery.
Race Style Tips
Always set her to Front. She’s built for it, with A compatibility for both Medium distance and Front running.
Use legacy characters that support Speed and Front style, like:
- Maruzenski
- Seiun Sky
- Mejiro McQueen
Avoid legacy runners focused on End or Late playstyles. They won’t help her maintain a lead.
Final Blurb
This Uma Musume Pretty Derby Daiwa Scarlet build is all about early leads and smart support choices. You don’t need perfect stats—just Speed, the right legacy, and the confidence to push her to the front and hold it.
Keep things focused and she might surprise you, even when she’s not the favorite.
TL;DR
- Focus on Speed first, then Power and Wit
- Keep Stamina around 350 for Medium races
- Red Ace only works if she’s already in 1st, so build for Front style
- Best support setup: 4 Speed, 1 Stamina (Super Creek), 1 Wit (Fine Motion). If you lack 4 Speed cards, see full section for alternatives.
- Skip Speed training only if there’s a skill hint or 3 characters on another drill
- Use Wit drills instead of resting to save time and stamina
- Top legacy picks: Maruzenski, Seiun Sky, Mejiro McQueen
- Avoid Guts and double Stamina setups
- Scarlet can win even with lower stats if she gets to the front early and stays there
