NYT Connections Sports Edition today: Hints and answers for June 23, 2025

Connections: Sports Edition is the latest edition of the popular New York Times word game, specially crafted to challenge sports enthusiasts.

Similar to the original Connections, this version focuses on identifying the "common links among words." Just like Wordle, Connections refreshes at midnight and each new puzzle becomes progressively harder—so we've provided some hints and tips to help you push through.

If you're looking for today's puzzle solution, you can skip ahead to the end of this article for the most recent Connections answer. However, if you prefer to figure it out on your own, continue reading for clues, advice, and strategies to support you.

What is Connections Sports Edition?

The NYT's newest daily word game was released in collaboration with The Athletic, a subsidiary of the New York Times that delivers in-depth sports content. Connections can be accessed via web browsers or mobile apps, and players are tasked with grouping four words that share a common trait.

Each puzzle consists of 16 words divided into four distinct groups. These sets could consist of anything from literary titles, software names, country names, and more. While many words may seem to belong together, only one grouping is correct.

When a player correctly identifies all four words in a set, those words disappear from the grid. An incorrect guess counts as a mistake—players are allowed up to four mistakes before the game ends.

Players also have the option to shuffle and rearrange the board to make spotting connections simpler. Furthermore, each group is color-coded, with yellow being the easiest, followed by green, blue, and purple. As with Wordle, you can post your results on social media.
