Finding Food for Hans Capon

The Hunger and Despair quest begins with a conversation with Hans Capon. He requests food. Initially, check with Janosh (marked on your map) for supplies. Unfortunately, Janosh reveals that all food is gone.

You can either inform Hans of the lack of food, or find some. Two options exist:

• Wine: Medium-difficulty lockpicks are needed to access wine in chests across from your room. An additional chest on the floor contains more wine, but one bottle suffices.
• Soup: Musa in the courtyard can make soup using a lambskin shoe. This requires lockpicking a hard-difficulty chest belonging to Lady Frenzl (location marked on the map) to obtain the shoe.

Note: Choosing the soup option prevents obtaining the Lent trophy.

It's not crucial to find food; informing Hans of the shortage triggers a cutscene.

A subsequent cutscene shows Godwin praying for the fallen. Two easy skill checks follow for Godwin, leading to another cutscene.

Defending the Fortress

The next objective involves defending the north wall by destroying four ladders. Prioritize eliminating enemies before focusing on the ladders; staying with allies is vital to avoid being overwhelmed. Patience is key to survival.

After completing this, another cutscene plays. Then, breach the tower door, eliminate the remaining enemies, and open the inner courtyard door for your allies. A final cutscene depicts the enemy retreat. Following conversations with allies, Zizka tasks Henry and Samuel with finding reinforcements.

Locate Katherine (marked 'L' on the map) for a conversation, which may lead to a romantic encounter. Alternatively, choosing to say goodbye to Hans presents an opportunity for a romantic moment with him (requiring sufficient reputation and prior dialogue choices).

A heart dialogue option with Katherine eventually appears. Waiting at the ramparts with Katherine (if romanced) triggers a final cutscene and quest completion.
