In Palworld, as you level up, you can craft many things. Some of these are useful items like weapons and armor, while others enhance the efficiency of your base or are purely for decoration. You can even craft things to perform actions like gliding, flying, or riding on Pals. You can do all of these through the Technology Tree in the game.
However, you are not limited to just that. Thanks to the legendary schematics you find around, it's quite possible to craft new things regardless of your level. If you don't know how to find schematics and where to look, then this guide is for you.
Updated January 7, 2025, by Emre Pala: Our guide has been updated to include the Alpha Pals introduced with the Sakurajima and Feybreak updates, along with the schematics they drop. We’ve also added the locations of Oil Rigs containing schematic-filled chests. Additionally, a table detailing how to find schematics outside of Alpha Pals has been included.
In Palworld, as you level up, you gain access to new recipes from the tech tree that you can craft. Actually, some of the things you can craft from schematics you find can be crafted through the technology tree. However, it's not possible to craft everything with the Technology Tree alone, so you'll need to find schematics to unlock some special recipes.
When rarity level comes into play, schematics become even more important for you. The higher the rarity level of the schematic you find, the better the stats of the item will be in proportion to it. For example, high-rarity armor will provide more armor, and a high-rarity weapon will deal more damage.
There are five rarity levels in Palworld:
When you have any schematic, you won't need to unlock that recipe from the tech tree. If you have the schematic, you can directly craft the item it contains if you have the materials.
For example, to craft a Crossbow, you need to reach level 13. However, if you have the schematic for the Crossbow, you can craft this item without needing to reach level 13.
Among schematics, the best ones are undoubtedly those with a Legendary rarity level. This means the Legendary version of the same item will be better than the Epic version. Therefore, your goal for sought-after schematics should be Legendary. So, the earlier you find them, the better it will be for you.
Additionally, Legendary Schematics will require more materials to craft compared to an item with a common rarity.
There are a total of 17 fixed Legendary Schematics that you can obtain in the game.
Additionally, to craft the items shown in the schematic, you need to have the schematic in your inventory. If it's not in your inventory, you won't be able to craft that item.
There are various methods in the game to obtain schematics. The first method you can apply is to explore the vast map of Palworld and find chests.
Since there are more than 900 chests scattered throughout the game, if you explore enough, you will find them. Also, it's not certain what will come out of the chests. There is no guarantee whether you will find a schematic or not. Especially if you are looking for Legendary Schematics, it's entirely up to chance.
One of the most important things you need to know about chests is where you found them. You can find chests containing more valuable items in the more challenging areas, while in the starting areas, there are chests containing more common items.
You can freely open some chests, but for some chests, you will need a key. This will vary depending on the chest you find. The keys you may need depending on the quality of the chest are as follows:
If you have a Mimog, it will unlock chests for you without the need for a key.
While wandering in search of chests, traveling with a Flying Pal can help you spot them better. Additionally, exploring high-level areas will greatly facilitate finding Legendary Schematics. Your chances of finding high-rarity schematics are higher in areas such as Dessicated Desert, Mount Obsidian, Astral Mountains, Sakurajima Island and Feybreak Island.
One of the best methods to find chests is to enter dungeons. Since you will always find two chests at the end of a dungeon, it is a very reliable method.
Additionally, the coordinates of dungeons are known, you can determine a farming route for yourself from dungeons that are close to each other. This way, you will increase your chances of finding legendary schematics.
Furthermore, since dungeons have different levels, if your goal is to find Legendary Schematics, going to the game's challenging areas will be a strategic move in your favor.
One of the easiest ways to obtain a legendary schematic is through Oil Rigs. The chests located here have a chance of dropping schematics, so creating a farming route that includes these chests would be beneficial. There are a total of three Oil Rig locations in the game:
Oil Rig Name |
Level |
Coordinates |
---|---|---|
Rayne Syndicate Oil Rig |
30 |
161, -277 |
Rayne Syndicate Oil Rig |
55 |
581, -431 |
Rayne Syndicate Platform Oil Rig |
60 |
-1730, -1452 |
You should be very cautious when entering Oil Rigs due to the powerful enemies and defense systems present there. For this reason, it’s in your best interest to approach the level 55 and 60 Oil Rigs using swimming Pals rather than flying ones.
Apart from finding schematics from chests, another method is to hunt or capture Alpha Pals. Especially if you're looking for Legendary Schematics, and it's uncertain whether they'll drop from chests, this could be a preferred method.
Additionally, since the schematics dropped by Alpha Pals are known, you can hunt or capture a specific Alpha Pal until it drops the item you're looking for. As the drop chance of these schematics is not extremely high, it may take several attempts until you find what you're looking for.
You have three options to obtain Legendary Schematics and other drops from Alpha Pals:
The best approach here is to first capture the Alpha Pal. If you haven't found the schematic you're looking for, then kill the captured Alpha Pal with a Meat Clever. Let's take a look at the 17 fixed Legendary Schematics that you can obtain from Alpha Pals in the game.
