Mavuika and Citlali are two 5-star units that were introduced alongside Genshin Impact version 5.3. Among these, Mavuika is the Pyro Archon who holds massive importance among the player base, and Citlali is also one of those units who is beloved by many due to her story and background.

This leads to confusion about whom players should pull for, especially if you're free-to-play. If you're confused about whom to spend your hard-earned Primogems on, here's a detailed guide that will help you decide and direct you on the right track.

Why You Should Pull For Mavuika

Genshin Impact: Should You Pull For Mavuika Or Citlali In Version 5.3

Mavuika is a 5-star Pyro Claymore unit in Genshin Impact who rides her Flamestrider while destroying enemies with her fiery attacks. There's no doubt that Mavuika is exceptionally strong, and her damage output is way too high when compared to some of the other units in the game.

A half-built Mavuika with barely any leveled-up talents can hit harder than a well-built Hu Tao or Arlecchino in the current meta. She's also new-player friendly and works quite well even in a free-to-play setup.

The Mavuika Difference

The reason why Mavuika is strong is because she can be played both as a sub-DPS as well as a DPS. When you use her Elemental Skill, she spawns a Ring of Searing Radiance that remains active even when you switch to a different character. This Ring will damage all nearby enemies at intervals.

However, when you hold her Elemental Skill, she hops over her Flamestrider which she can ride at high speed while also dealing massive damage to enemies. Additionally, Mavuika's ultimate ability functions a bit differently as it doesn't require energy in the standard sense.

Instead, she requires something called Fighting Spirit which functions like a stack, and it is increased whenever Nightsoul points are consumed or when allies hit enemies with their Normal Attacks. Once she has 50% Fighting Spirit, her ultimate can be triggered, where she hops over her Flamestrider, jumps in the air, and slashes onto enemies underneath dealing massive damage.

Mavuika also gains ATK boosts whenever someone in the party uses Nightsoul Burst. Finally, after Mavuika uses her ultimate ability, for every point of Fighting Spirit used, the damage of an active party member is increased by 0.2 percent up to a maximum of 40 percent. This allows her to be played alongside other DPS units whose damage will be buffed after Mavuika's Elemental Burst.

It's also important to mention that she is quite free to play as you do not need to invest in Constellations or her signature weapon. The Serpent Spine Claymore from the Battlepass is the second-best weapon for Mavuika, and it's a 4-star. You can also go for a craftable weapon like Earth Shaker, which allows you to reach very high damage numbers.

Why You Should Pull For Citlali

Genshin Impact: Should You Pull For Mavuika Or Citlali In Version 5.3

Citlali is a 5-star Cryo Catalyst user in Genshin Impact who primarily functions as a support character. She can shield allies and deal damage to enemies while also enabling a variety of reactions for the party members.

She is quite strong, though her utility as a unit can be restrictive depending on what kind of party members you might be running. Her viability increases when Pyro and Hydro units are in the party, especially if they are triggering Melt or Frozen.

The Citlali Difference

Two skills make Citlali exceptionally powerful. The first one is Mamaloaco's Frigid Rain, which reduces the Pyro and Hydro RES of units by 20% whenever someone triggers a Melt or Frozen reaction in the game.

The second skill that makes Citlali very strong is her Elemental Skill Dawnfrost Darkstar. With this skill, she deploys a party-wide shield that grows stronger depending on the Elemental Mastery of Citlali. Apart from that, while the shield is active, it can deal Cryo damage to enemies as long as Citlali has at least 50 Nightsoul points.

This makes it easy to trigger Melt and Frozen reactions which in turn helps activate the Mamaloaco's Frigid Rain ability. She is also very easy to use and doesn't have any strict weapon requirements either, since you can use the 3-star Catalyst Thrilling Tales of Dragon Slayers and still make the most out of her kit.

If you build Crit DMG on Citlali, her Ultimate can deal very good damage in the right conditions. However, that will reduce the strength of her shield.

Her Ultimate ability is also decent where she deals a burst of Cryo damage, though it isn't something that you'll rely on much. In short, if your party has Pyro or Hydro units, Citlali is pretty much the best support for them in the current meta.
