While the main draw of a game like Infinity Nikki is definitely peeling back the layers of this oddly dark story and looking absolutely fabulous while doing so, you won't get very far into making garments and accessories from Nikki's sketchbook without grabbing a few collectibles as you venture through Miraland!
Closely tied to your five Insights, you'll find specific loot of each skill type as you go through Infinity Nikki's story and explore the world of Miraland. There are four kinds of loot to find in total, and each region of Miraland has collectibles you won't find anywhere else.
If you're a fan of open-world adventure games like Infinity Nikki, then you're probably no stranger to tracking your collectible items as you explore the world. In Infinity Nikki, these are simply referred to as collectibles, and there are a variety of categories in which they come. Each kind of collectible is connected to one of Nikki's main ability outfits, meaning you'll first need that outfit before you can find these collectibles.
Collectibles always fall into one of five categories:
If you're not sure how much loot you've got at any given time, you can check your inventory by opening the Backpack - Wallet and Exchange menu in your console's UI.
Not only are there several different categories of collectibles in Infinity Nikki, but you'll also notice that they come in different rarities, denoted by the color of the background behind the item in your inventory. Gray is the most common, with brown a bit rarer, then blue, and purple to denote the rarest collectibles.
You can use your collectibles to head into the Realm of Nourishment to trade collected items with the Fufus in exchange for more Insight into that skill, the result of which is based on the rarity of said item, or you can hold onto them to use to craft sketches you've unlocked, since plenty of collectibles are required for each piece of clothing you create.
As such, it's pretty important to spend some time building your various skills in Infinity Nikki! Most things are easy enough to grab as you wander through the overworld, especially if you're trying to find them specifically. There is a daily experience gain cap, though, after which you can still gather collectibles for your backpack but won't gain any extra insight experience for doing so.
If you'd like even more collectibles, especially rarer ones, you can purchase them for various currencies in the Store from your Pear-Pal, too.
After you've found a new collectible organically as you venture through Miraland, it'll be logged into Nikki's journal so she remembers all the details. Thankfully, once you've found a location to farm a collectible, you'll be able to enable tracking on any collectible to find it in the overworld a bit easier the next time.
You can't track Esseling loot, though, it seems - you'll need to explore off the beaten paths around Miraland and find Esseling encampments to fight. If you've found the caves in Miraland already, there will often be several in there, as well as amid odd, small ruins dotted around your map.
By choosing an item to track, you'll be able to look at your map of Miraland and gauge where you ought to head to look for it. Areas are marked on your map with a transparent orange circle that denotes where you'll find the tracked collectible. There may be several locations, so figure out how much you need, mark your collectible of choice on your map, and get to hunting!
Once you've gotten really good at collecting things in Infinity Nikki, you'll slowly but surely unlock precise item tracking for each collectible in the game. To do this, you'll first need to collect a requisite amount of this item, which will take quite a lot of work - it's number-based for quantifiable collectibles, and weight-based for fish. Thankfully, you'll be building your Insights along the way!
Thankfully, there's no specific outfit you need before you can begin collecting items in Infinity Nikki! Collection insight is one of the easier skills to build, since you'll just need to pick up items as you run past them, which you can do without stopping unlike the other skills.
