Across the shattered timeline of Marvel Rivals, heroes and villains from across the multiverse join forces to combat the schemes of Dr. Doom and save their disparate homes from being turned upside-down. Hailing from the cyberpunk future of Tokyo 2099, an unlikely hero enters the fight: Peni Parker and her psychic mech-suit, SP//dr.
Peni Parker is a powerful Vanguard, specializing in objective defense and creating Cyber-Webs that restrict your opponents’ movement while healing and buffing yourself. She plays less like a traditional “tank” and more like a trap/support character, putting out consistent damage from medium range while helping your team and impeding your enemies.
Peni belongs to the Vanguard role, meaning that she has a significant health pool and multiple ways to aid and defend her team. However, she does not (normally) have any damage-reduction or shield abilities, meaning that your teammates cannot rely on you to absorb burst damage or protect them from the same. The one exception to this is her Team-Up with Venom, covered below.
It is helpful to think of Peni Parker like a setup/defense character from other games, reinforcing critical areas of the battlefield and closing off choke points. It is this playstyle, along with her large frame and health bar, that allows her to protect her team.

Description |

Basic Attack: Cyber-Web Cluster |
Peni shoots a projectile that deals moderate damage with a small blast radius. What it lacks in pure damage numbers, it makes up for with infinite ammo and no damage fall-off, allowing Peni to score the finishing blow at any range. |
Cyber-Web Snare |
Peni launches a bundle of webbing – a slow-moving projectile – that briefly Immobilizes enemies hit or creates a Cyber-Web if it hits the environment. Standing on Cyber-Webs will give you a speed boost and heal you if you’re injured (or give you Bonus Health if your health is full). You can have up to three individual Cyber-Webs active at a time. |
Bionic Spider-Nest |
Peni creates a Spider-Nest near her, which will cover the area around it with Cyber-Webs and periodically spawn Spider-Drones. The Spider-Drones will chase down nearby enemies, exploding and dealing damage to them if they get close enough. The Spider-Nest can be destroyed, so try to place it somewhere out of sight. |
Arachno-Mines |
Peni shoots out an Arachno-Mine that sticks to the first surface it hits, arming itself after a couple of seconds. If an enemy gets close enough, the Arachno-Mine will detonate, dealing significant damage. Peni can hold up to four charges of Arachno-Mines, and if more than four are placed on the map, the oldest Arachno-Mine will be destroyed. |
Cyber-Bond |
Peni shoots a strand of webbing that creates a Cyber-Web and connects her to it, pulling her to the Cyber-Web and tethering her to that spot. Peni will be pulled back toward the tethered spot if she moves too far away, and you can detach the tether at any time. You can use this ability to rapidly reposition, and it can prevent you from being knocked back into danger or away from your team/Cyber-Webs. |
Passive: Wall Crawl |
Peni can climb nearby walls, allowing her to gain a better vantage point or escape from less-mobile enemies. |
Ultimate: Spider-Sweeper |
Peni boosts SP//dr’s power, granting her a massive health and movement speed boost for the duration. While Spider-Sweeper is active, Peni has access to a powerful melee attack that knocks enemies into the air, leaves a trail of Cyber-Webs behind her, spawns Spider-Drones around her, and can rapidly deploy up to seven Arachno-Mines. |
Team-Up (Venom): Armor Expulsion |
Venom gives Peni part of his Symbiote, enhancing her abilities. Peni can activate this Team-Up to surround herself in a ball of spikes that give her significant damage reduction and will knock back and damage any enemies that get Close to her. |
Peni Parker’s game plan is simple: figure out where the next fight will take place, and then give your team the edge by setting up Cyber-Webs and Arachno-Mines to heal yourself and harm your enemies.
If the going gets tough, don’t be afraid to use your Cyber-Bond and Wall-Crawl to take the high ground – and if your opponents try to follow you, lay down some Arachno-Mines to surprise them.
Peni Parker and SP//dr work best with characters that like to poke from a distance, such as Magneto, Namor, Squirrel Girl, and Loki. Alternatively, Peni can stay back on the objective/capture point defending the Strategists while the other members of the team fight on the front lines.
The key to playing Peni Parker well is knowing when to pick your fights. Because you don’t have on-demand defenses like Magneto or Doctor Strange (outside your Team-Up), or huge mobility like Hulk or Venom, you generally shouldn’t chase down fleeing enemies or push forward aggressively unless you have Spider-Sweeper ready.
Otherwise, always try to fight near – or preferably inside – your Cyber-Webs, as they can give you the healing and movement necessary to get a victory.
In addition, your Arachno-Mines can be easily hidden inside your Cyber-Webs, and your Cyber-Bond can compensate for your lack of burst mobility by allowing you to “dash” around inside your Cyber-Web setup.
This is your “break glass in case of emergency” option, giving you incredible survivability and vastly improved mobility while allowing you to push forward and set up your Cyber-Webs at the same time. You can use Spider-Sweeper to regain the upper hand after your Spider-Nest has been destroyed, or if you need to quickly reposition your setup to keep pace with your team, the objective, or both.
