The party arrives in Vence in Fantasian: Neo Dimension and decides to visit Leo's second Toy Box, the Midi Toy Box, for clues that might lead to the restoration of his memories. The only problem is that East Vence has been completely infested with Mechteria, making travel through the area difficult.
After battling through machines and securing a gondola, the party finally arrives at the Midi Toy Box, but even more dangers await inside. Below, we'll take a look at a complete walkthrough of this dungeon, including where to find every item inside, how to beat the boss at the end, and how to open the chest in the secret room.
Immediately after setting foot in the Toy Box's Basement, you'll be introduced to one of this dungeon's main mechanics: the security machines. If you step foot in front of one of these, you'll initiate an encounter with a group of enemies, so try to avoid their searchlights as you navigate through the rest of the Basement.
To start, use the save crystal to save and heal up if you need to, then open the chest near the broken security machine to get three Clocks of Truth. Then, head down and avoid the next searchlight, or intentionally walk into it if you want the extra experience.
The chest next to this machine contains the Frostbird Belt, which has 24 defense and boosts resistance to fire damage. Equip this on Kina to help with the boss later on.
Next, you'll come to a locked door with a blue and red switch. Leo will automatically choose the red switch, which will trigger the security and begin an encounter. Defeat the enemies then proceed through the newly opened door, which will lead you to another locked door and set of blue and red switches.
Once again, Leo will automatically choose to press the red switch, again triggering the security and starting an encounter. Head through the door after the battle, then hide from the searchlight to open a chest containing an Elixir.
At the third set of switches, you will be able to choose the red or the blue switch. Despite Leo saying otherwise, choose the blue switch to safely open the door without triggering the security system. Head down the stairs to the next part of the Basement.
Now, you'll be met with three searchlights; when the first two rotate to the right, quickly move to the area in front of the third light, then move back so that you are pressed to the right of the second machine, avoiding the third's light. Once the third light rotates to the right, quickly make your way through to the save crystal.
Save your game, then hit the red switch to begin the boss fight of the Toy Box Basement against the Salamander.
The Salamander absorbs fire damage but is weak to ice, and has a tail that can be targeted separately with the same attributes. It is immune to sleep but other ailments have 100 percent hit rate. Here are each of the attacks the Salamander will use throughout the fight.
Start by immediately targeting the Salamander's tail with Cheryl's Ice Strike. Leo won't be able to hit the tail, but he can use Helm Bash to reduce the Salamander's defense so that Cheryl's attacks deal more damage. Keep the party healed up with Kina, using potions where necessary to conserve on MP.
If the Salamander's tail isn't quickly destroyed, it will use Tail Slash, hitting all party members for high damage. Destroying the tail will prevent the boss from using this attack for the remainder of the fight.
Eventually, the boss will stand up to prepare for a big attack, exposing its stomach, which takes more damage than the rest of its body. Focus your attacks here, reapplying Defense Down through Helm Bash and hitting with Ice Strike as much as possible.
Once the fire on the Salamander's back flares, it will use Ground Flare on its next turn, dealing very high fire damage to the whole party. Be sure to heal everyone up before this happens, as it can easily wipe out the party if they aren't near full health.
If Kina has the Frostbird Belt equipped, she should be able to survive this attack and recover the party's health.
After Ground Flare, the Salamander will skip its next turn to recover before returning to all fours and continuing the first part of the fight like normal. If you haven't done so yet, destroy its tail before the Salamander eventually stands up again and prepares another Ground Flare.
This process will repeat until the boss goes down. For your efforts, each party member will get 780 experience, and you'll also get a Garnet L and a few thousand Gold.
In the secret room, leave the first two chests alone, but open up the normal chest on the left side of the room for two Remedies. There are two Chaos Chests also on the left side of the room, and each require a Chaos Key to open. Similarly, you can find two Machine Chests on the right side of the room that each need a Machine Key to open.
The chest in the back of the room is your goal, but you'll need to find the correct password for it first. To start, read the papers in the center of the room to get the hint "Passcode: date date!". Cheryl will tell you that the date in question must be the day that Leo stood her up, which was October 14 or 1014. However, this code doesn't open the chest; instead, the Cinderella Tri-Stars will appear.
The trio will challenge you to a battle, but things will play out much like the first time you faced them. Dotty will put up his guard right away, but you can curve Kina and Cheryl's magic to hit Morrigan or Folt, leaving Dotty for last.
Overall, this fight isn't difficult at all, just take down the Tri-Stars one-by-one, healing up when necessary. You may want to target Folt first, as he can heal the enemy team, dragging out the fight.
Once the Cinderella Tri-Stars are down, you'll get the Cinderall Badge II and be able to continue searching the Toy Box. Read the papers on the right side of the room to get the hint about good biorhythms, then read the note on the left side of the room to learn the date associated with good biorhythms: November 5 or 1105.
Head back to the chest at the top of the room, then put in 1105. This will open the two chests near the center of the room. Open these up to get the Crystal Ball and Warp Device key items. Watch the scenes that follow, then read the note in the chest at the top of the room to turn on the Warp Device, allowing you to return to previously visited areas.
