The introduction to Loco Motive sets up the main point around which the story revolves: the death of Lady Unterwald and the issue of her missing will, which flew out of the window when you, as Arthur Ackerman, opened a window too close to it. Naturally, the first official 'Part' of the game deals with his damage control efforts.
With Lady Unterwald's last moments being captured by the speed painter onboard the Reuss Express, it's clear that she was attacked from afar. We don't know much more than this, however. Along with finding the will, unravelling this mystery is also on the cards.
This part starts off with Arthur listing his goals:
You will notice, however, that the missing will is clinging to the window right next to your starting location in the Dining Carriage. Attempt to grab the will, and it'll fly away again, giving you your third goal: to get the will back.
The first step here is to talk to the 'uncouth slob' in the Dining Carriage, revealed to be Donny through introductions. He will hand you a Perfumed Note and tell you to show it to the lady seated behind him - try to do that now, and she'll refuse to take it. Talk to Donny again, and the pair will leave, thankfully not together.
Pick up the keys that Donny leaves behind. Head into the Sleeper Carriage (to the left of the Dining Carriage) and enter his room, which is the one with the Do Not Disturb sign on the handle.
Inside Donny's room, open his closet and pick up the Wire Hanger, and then attempt to leave. Donny will prevent you leaving - click on the cupboard underneath the sink to hide. You'll eavesdrop on an important conversation here, learning that there are incriminating accounts hidden in Lady Unterwald's quarters.
Now, try to return to Lady Unterwald's quarters by heading all the way down the train to the right.
A guard in the Lounge Carriage will prevent you from reaching the end of the train. Speaking to the guard will reveal that he has a severe allergy to strong perfumes.
Exit the conversation when you can, and give the guard the perfumed letter. He'll leave, and you can enter Lady Unterwald's quarters.
Exploring Lady Unterwald's room will make it quite clear that there's only one place you need to search - the jammed drawer on the left side of the desk.
Use the wire hanger on the drawer to open it, and then retrieve the accounts ledger from inside.
You'll also notice that Herman is hiding within Lady Unterwald's closet here - you can talk to him if you want, but it's not necessary. There's some very funny dialogue to be found here, though!
Arthur will decide that he has to confront Bergmann about the ledger - to do this, head back to the Dining Carriage and find him sitting at the leftmost table. Talk to him about the ledger to progress.
Bergmann will give you your final task of the Part - to stop Donny from cheating at the Casino Carriage.
To begin, make sure you talk to Bergmann about Donny's scheme and learn that magnetism is involved. Then, head back to Donny's room and take a look around.
Specifically, pick up the giant magnet on the right side of the room.
Return to the Casino Carriage and witness Donny's scheme in action. To interfere with it, use your magnet on the roulette wheel when the wheel is spinning. Arthur will successfully foil Donny's scheme.
Donny, however, will return to his room and come back to the Casino Carriage with more chips, which is revealed by following him.
To stop him completely, you'll need to use the magnet on the roulette wheel and then immediately start moving back to the Sleeper Carriage and then get back into Donny's room before Donny.
You'll watch Donny take casino chips from the drawer underneath the heart-shaped bed - open this yourself once Donny has left, and take the entire pile of chips.
Leave Donny's room, and you'll automatically head back to the Casino Carriage and foil Donny once more, this time for good.
This leads directly into Part Two.
