Dragon Age: The Veilguard - Magic Of The Ancients Walkthrough

While exploring the Arlathan Forest in Dragon Age: The Veilguard, you will come across an Ancient Artifact involved in some sort of ritual. Upon investigating, you will learn that it is no longer functional, and to fix it, you will need to charge three crystals nearby. This will begin The Magic of the Ancients quest.

To find the Ancient Artifact, you will need to travel north of the Arlathan Forest, to an area called the Jagged Ruins. Since the quest requires you to repair Elven Artifacts, you will need to have Bellara in your party or use Solas’ Lyrium Dagger to use the Tinker ability.

The Magic Of The Ancients Walkthrough

As mentioned earlier, the quest requires you to repair the Ancient Artifact in the Arlathan Forest. To repair it, you will need to charge three crystals in the surroundings using Bellara’s Tinker ability. And while all three of them are marked on your mini-map, finding them can still be a little challenging. Below, we have shared the locations of all three crystals:

First Crystal

The first crystal is located on the right side of the Artifact. To reach it, you will need to follow the platforms on the left side, and continue along the path until you reach a staircase. Instead of heading up the stairs, keep on following the path, and you will see it. There is also a note detailing some history next to it.

Second Crystal

For the second crystal, head back to the staircase, and go up. Once you are up, do not immediately use the zipline. Be sure to fix a malfunctioning device on the right side. After it is fixed, use the zipline to get to the other side. Continue to follow the path, and you will see the second crystal near the edge. Again, read the nearby note to learn about everything happening.

Third Crystal

To fix the last crystal, activate the Beam Generator near the second crystal, and point it at the malfunctioning device (that you repaired earlier) on the left side of the zipline. This will create a bridge leading to the third crystal.

When you are on the platform, open the chest to get a Longbow for Bellara, Flawless Crystal, and a valuable item. There is also the Promise of Glory Memento nearby.

While you are here, you should also unlock the Mystical Tower. You will need to activate the nearby Beam Generator, and point it directly north to create a ramp heading into the tower.

Inside the Mystical Tower, you will find The Hand Right Memento, some Gold, a valuable item, and a Fen'Harel Altar. After activating it, head back to the Beam Generator, and you will find a new item on the platform below. Collect it for a Skill Point and 10 Veil Jumpers Strength.

After all three crystals have been charged, jump down to the Artifact, and use Bellara’s Tinker ability to repair it.

Once completed, you will get 500 XP, an increased bond with quest companions, 200 Gold, 100 to the Veil Jumper Strength, and five Vhenadahl’s Tears.
