Company behind Anbernic RG Cube releases RG406V gaming handheld with improved analog sticks

Anbernic has now released the RG406V, which utilises the same Unisoc T820 chipset as the RG Cube and RG556. Potentially, the RG406V will be Anbernic's only launch this month, although it is rumoured to have an RG35XX SP refresh in the works, as well as a cheaper alternative to theRG Cube(curr. $214,98 on Amazon).

As for the RG406V, Anbernic also includes 8 GB of LPDDR4x RAM and 128 GB of UFS 2.2 flash storage, along with a 5,500 mAh battery that it rates for up to eight hours of usage between charges. Additionally, the RG406V finds itself with a 4-inch IPS display that resolves at 960 x 720 pixels with a 4:3 aspect ratio. For reference, the display also supports touch inputs, unlike many of Anbernic's recent gaming handhelds.

Arguably, a star of the show is the RG406V's Hall effect analog sticks, which are said to be far superior to those that Anbernic includes in the RG40XX V. According to the likes of Retro Game Corps, the analog sticks do not suffer from cardinal snapping. As such, they should provide a full range of motion. Moreover, they support removal caps and are RGB backlit. Currently, the RG406V starts at $154.99 in Beige White, Grey and Black Transparent colour options. Please see Anbernic's website for more details.
