Xiaomi has launched the Redmi Projector 3 in China. This cheaper LCD model has a native 1080p resolution with a 1,500:1 contrast ratio. You can use the projector to throw images between 55 and 110 inches (~140 and 280 cm) wide with a 1.2:1 throw ratio.
The Redmi Projector 3's light source is said to deliver up to 260 CVIA lumens brightness, and the sealed optical engine is expected to reduce brightness decay and prevent maintenance by protecting against dust. There is an autofocus tool using time-of-flight technology to quickly perfect the image. Plus, with dual-band Wi-Fi and Bluetooth connectivity, the projector can act as a wireless speaker and it supports voice commands. On top of this, the projector is compatible with HyperOS Connect, meaning you can link it with other compatible smart home products and control it via the Xiaomi app. Other features include two built-in 5W speakers with a digital amplifier, HDMI and USB 2.0 ports, and 1.5 32 GB storage.
The Xiaomi Redmi Projector 3 is currently available to purchase in China at the discounted price of 999 yuan (~$140); the model has an RRP of 1,299 yuan (~$182). Whether or when the device could arrive in other markets like Europe, where the company already sells Mi Smart Projector 2, remains to be seen.
