Ultimate Ears, the audio arm of Logitech, has announced a new portable Bluetooth speaker called the Miniroll, and it seems it will be the brand's smallest portable Bluetooth speaker, replacing the discontinued Roll series.
It is obvious the Miniroll is a replacement for the Roll and Roll 2 as it has that familiar round design and gigantic volume buttons on the surface. Made from recycled plastic and polyester, it is available in Gentle Black, Majestic Blue, Calming Pink, and Revive Gray.
In addition to the volume buttons on the surface, the Miniroll has a recessed power button and a play/pause button on one side and a USB-C port on the other. The speaker is rated IP67 for dust and water resistance, an upgrade from the Roll 2's IPX7 rating. It will also survive drops from a height of up to 1.2 meters.
However, the speaker is still not capable of floating, and Ultimate Ears doesn't include a floaty in the box like it did with the Roll 2. It also ditches the bungee cord of its predecessor for a somewhat stretchy silicone strap that allows you to attach it to things.
UE says the Miniroll will provide up to 12 hours of listening time on a single charge. It has a 40 meter range, and thanks to Auracast, it can be paired to an unlimited number of Miniroll speakers but not the BOOM line of speakers.
Ultimate Ears has begun selling the Miniroll and it carries a price tag of $79.99/£69.99/€ 79,99. It is available on its website, Logitech's website, and on Amazon.
If you prefer 360-degree sound, the Wonderboom 4 is the one to go for, and while it costs more at $99, it is currently discounted and available to buy for $79.99 on Amazon. Not only do you get better audio output, but it has up to 14 hours of battery life, Google Fast Pair, and an outdoor boost mode.
