iPhone 16 Pro and iPhone 16 Pro Max official with new cameras, A18 Pro SoC and larger screens

Apple has finally lifted the covers off its new high-end iPhone models. The iPhone 16 Pro and iPhone 16 Pro Max now come with larger screens compared to their last-gen counterparts (6.3-in on the Pro, 6.9-in on Pro Max). They get an enhanced Apple A18 Pro chip under the hood, along with a slew of new hardware and software upgrades.

For starters, both the iPhone 16 Pro and iPhone 16 Pro Max get new camera sensors: a 48 MP primary sensor, a 48 MP ultra-wide-angle lens and a 12 MP periscope telephoto lens. You can now record videos at 4K 120 FPS in Dolby Vision and then adjust the playback speed in the Photos app. Furthermore, you can now view images captured on your iPhone in 3D via an Apple Vision Pro. Apple claims both phones come with 'studio-quality' microphones to better capture audio.

Performance-wise, Apple claims the iPhone 16 Pro Max delivers the most battery life of any iPhone ever made. Many features rely on Apple Intelligence to do the heavy lifting, such as Siri integration into the photos app, a device-wide search using keywords and the ability to isolate audio elements from a video. Unlike last time, the iPhone 16 Pro and iPhone 16 Pro Max offer only a handful of meaningful upgrades over their last-gen counterparts.

You can pre-order the iPhone 16 Pro now starting at $999 and the iPhone 16 Pro Max at $1,199. Both phones hit shelves on September 20. And yes, the base storage still starts at 128 GB for both models, which is somewhat of a downgrade over the iPhone 15 Pro Max, which came with 256 GB minimum.
