The Raspberry Pi Foundation has quietly started shipping a new version of the Raspberry Pi Zero 2 W. For reference, the Foundation released a cheaper version of the Raspberry Pi 5 earlier this week too, full details of which we have covered separately. Specifically, the Raspberry Pi Foundation has decided to offer the Raspberry Pi Zero 2 W with a pre-soldered GPIO header.
As such, the latest Raspberry Pi Zero 2 W is arguably more versatile than competitors like the BPI M4 Zero (curr. $34.99 on Amazon), which Banana Pi released last year. Fundamentally, the Raspberry Pi Zero 2 W is the same single-board computer (SBC) as the original model. Thus, it incorporates a Raspberry Pi RP3A0 system-in-package (SiP) and a quad-core 64-bit processor based around ARM Cortex-A53 CPU cores, plus Bluetooth 4.2 and 2.4 GHz 802.11 b/g/n Wi-Fi connectivity.
As it stands, the Raspberry Pi Zero 2 W with a pre-soldered header costs $18 from Adafruit and £17 from The Pi Hut in the UK. However, the latter also sells the SBC with a colour-coded header for a £0.90 surcharge. Please see the retail listings below for more details.
