Republican Sen. Cynthia Lummis (R-Wyo.), a staunch cryptocurrency and Bitcoin BTC/USD supporter, expressed doubts about Democratic presidential candidate Kamala Harris' support for the industry, despite recent developments indicating otherwise.

At the SALT Wyoming Blockchain Symposium on Wednesday, Lummis highlighted the contrasting stances of the Democratic and Republican parties on cryptocurrency. While the Republican platform pledges to protect and promote digital asset activities, Lummis noted that Harris has yet to articulate her position on the matter.

"We have not heard anything from Kamala Harris to suggest that she will support this industry, but Donald Trump has spoken positively about digital assets, and he wants to move the needle in this area," the Wyoming senator said.

Sen. Tim Scott (R-S.C.), a member of the Senate Committee on Banking, Housing, and Urban Affairs, also addressed the cryptocurrency voting bloc, urging them to prioritize their self-interests.

"If you care about cryptocurrency, and you care about the policies that will impact this industry, then vote for the candidate who will protect your interests," Scott said.

He highlighted Trump's promise to fire SEC Chairman Gary Gensler on the first day of his administration, an issue that resonates with a significant portion of the cryptocurrency community.

"That is the clarity and decision-making that you should consider while voting," Scott added.

A policy adviser to Harris' campaign has indicated that the presidential hopeful would take steps to help grow digital assets, such as cryptocurrencies and stablecoins.

Additionally, a democratic-leaning advocacy group, "Crypto for Harris," held a virtual town hall last week, featuring messages of support from key Democrats, including Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-N.Y.).

"My goal is to get something passed out of the Senate and into law by the end of the year," Schumer said in his remarks at the event.

In the realm of cryptocurrency politics, Trump has regained the lead over Harris in election odds on the cryptocurrency prediction market, Polymarket.
