Roughly a week has now passed since Xiaomi's Smart Band 8 (curr. $42 on Amazon) successor was seen outside China for the first time in an early Amazon listing. Based on these listings, it seemed that Xiaomi could be planning a fairly limited release of its new fitness tracker globally, as has often proven the case in the past.
According to Arsène Lupin, the Smart Band 9 may be available internationally in multiple finishes, evidence of which we have embedded below. On top of that, the leaker has shared photos of the fitness tracker with various first-party accessories, including a metal strap option, which is pictured above. Please note that these straps utilise Xiaomi's proprietary band technology rather than simply slotting over the fitness tracker's body as previous generations did.
Moreover,Arsène Lupindescribes all key Smart Band 9 specifications. Based on these, it seems that Xiaomi has not made any changes to the Smart Band 9's hardware from its initial Chinese release. With that being said, the leaker has not mentioned NFC connectivity, which Xiaomi typically offers optionally for a small surcharge. As such, it appears that Xiaomi may refrain from offering an NFC variant again, just as it did with its Smart Band 8 generation. Currently, Xiaomi is expected to release the Smart Band 9 globally in mid-August with a €39.99 MSRP in Europe.
