Part 5

Some time ago, a streaming media server capable of supporting HLS was built on Ubuntu. The ultimate goal is to build such a streaming media server on the arm development board. At present, only a small part of the work has been done. It is being transplanted and recorded so that it can be continued in the future.

1. The first thing is to transplant nginx to the arm development board.

Someone has already done this, so you can use other people’s projects.

https://bitbucket.org/ntakimura/android-nginx/src/c80cb9c41a725ecf57f73a196735100aeef5b6e4/?at=android

This is the android-nginx open source project, and development continues on this basis.

2. After downloading the original code, follow the steps above:

First, make sure there is an NDK environment and call the NDK tool chain.

android ndk provides scripts that allow you to customize a tool chain. The method is:

$NDK_HOME/build/tools/make-standalone-toolchain.sh \
    --platform=android-14 --install-dir=$HOME/local/android-toolchain
where NDK_HOME is your NDK path.

3. According to the second step, what is written on the project official website is:

auto/configure \
    --crossbuild=android-arm \
    --prefix=/sdcard/nginx \
    --with-cc=$HOME/local/android-toolchain/arm-linux-androideabi/bin/gcc \
    --without-pcre --without-http_rewrite_module --without-http_userid_module \
    --with-cc-opt=-Wno-sign-compare
However, when entering the previous directory of auto to execute, an error will be prompted and gcc cannot be found, so the command needs to be modified:
auto/configure \
    --crossbuild=android-arm \
    --prefix=/home/wangrui/arm-nginx \
    --with-cc=/home/wangrui/local/android-toolchain/bin/arm-linux-androideabi-gcc \
    --without-pcre --without-http_rewrite_module --without-http_userid_module \
    --with-cc-opt=-Wno-sign-compare
Since future make and make install will be under root, I changed the HOME in the command to my directory /home/wangrui/

4. If there are no errors, it can be completed successfully, then make, make install

5. Copy arm-nginx to android SDCARD.

When copying, there will be permission issues and copying cannot be done. Modify the arm-nginx folder permissions:

chmod 777 arm-nginx -R
-R means that the subfolders and files under the folder are also modified.

6. Connect the phone with a data cable, open USB debugging, and install the adb tool

sudo apt-get install android-tools-adb

7. Enter the SDK directory, mine is /home/wangrui/java/sdk/platform-tools

Execute the command:

adb shell
will enter the phone and execute the command:
cd sdcard
enters the sd card and finds the arm-nginx directory

8. The complete command is:

cd sdcard/arm-nginx/sbin/

Execute
./nginx
prompts error:
nginx: [alert] could not open error log file: open() "/home/wangrui/arm-nginx/logs/error.log" failed (2: No such file or directory)
2015/02/12 16:16:26 [emerg] 4079#0: open() "/home/wangrui/arm-nginx/conf/nginx.conf" failed (2: No such file or directory)
cannot find the file, modify the command:
./nginx -p /sdcard/arm-nginx/ -c /sdcard/arm-nginx/conf/nginx.conf
execution prompt error:
nginx: [emerg] getgrnam("nogroup") failed (2: No such file or directory)
I don’t know how to modify it yet, so I’ll record it here today. Since I’m on annual leave soon, it’s easier to continue later, step by step...

Seniors who have encountered this kind of situation are welcome to give me some advice!

Thank you
